The Employment and Appointments Committee met on 14 October 2025 to discuss the shortlisting of candidates for the position of Director of Education and Achievement. The committee was also scheduled to confirm the minutes of their previous meeting.

Shortlisting of Director of Education and Achievement

The committee was asked to consider a report regarding the shortlisting of applicants for the position of Director of Education and Achievement. The report, prepared by the Director of Human Resources, outlined the process for shortlisting candidates.

The report recommended that the committee shortlist applicants for interview.

Information relating to each application was set out in an exempt appendix to the report.

The report noted that the appointment of a senior officer would support the delivery of the council's missions and objectives, and that the postholder would have a key role in supporting the Islington Together 2030 Plan¹.

The salary range for the post was advertised as being between £120,456 and £135,958. The report stated that the recruitment process was being conducted in accordance with the council's constitution.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting

The committee was scheduled to approve the minutes from their meeting held on 25 June 2025. At that meeting, Councillor Anjna Khurana, Chair, and Councillors Santiago Bell-Bradford, Janet Burgess MBE, Troy Gallagher and Una O'Halloran were present. The committee had previously appointed Sarah Scannell to the post of Director of Planning and Development.
