The Member Standards (Review) Sub-Committee of Lichfield District Council is scheduled to meet on 13 October 2025. The meeting will include a discussion on two complaint reviews, and will also deal with standard business such as the appointment of a chair. It is expected that the press and public will be excluded from the meeting for the discussion of the complaint reviews.

Complaint Reviews

The Sub-Committee will be reviewing two complaints. These are listed on the agenda as Complaint Review (1) and Complaint Review (2).

The public reports pack states that the public and press will be excluded from these discussions because publicity would be prejudicial to the public interest by reason of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted . The reason given is that the items would involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 . This section of the Act relates to information that could identify an individual.

Exclusion of Press and Public

As noted above, a resolution is scheduled to be made to exclude the press and public from the meeting during the discussion of the complaint reviews. The reason stated in the agenda for this is:

That as publicity would be prejudicial to the public interest by reason of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted, the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business, which would involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972
