This was considered to be contrary to Policy ENV3 (A) of the Settlements and Countryside Local Plan (Part 2) For Daventry District 2011-2029, which aims to maintain physical and visual separation between settlements and prevent coalescence.

The application had faced significant opposition from local residents and Harlestone Parish Council, who argued it would harm the Green Wedge, was geographically isolated from the rest of the parish, and that there was no need for further housing in the area.
