The Appeals Committee of Cornwall Council is scheduled to meet on Monday 20 October 2025, to discuss several school transport appeals. The committee will also discuss the minutes of previous meetings.

School Transport Appeals

The committee is scheduled to review multiple appeals related to school transport. Each case involves a request for travel assistance to a specific school, and will be discussed individually, in private, with the relevant parties present.

The appeals to be discussed are:

• Travel Assistance to Wadebridge School
• Travel Assistance to St Columb Major Academy (two cases)
• Travel Assistance to Callington Community College
• Travel Assistance to Cape Cornwall School ARB
• Travel Assistance to Pool Academy
• Travel Assistance to Poltair School

The procedure for these hearings is detailed in the agenda, and includes a presentation of the case from a representative of the Transport Coordination Service, presentations from the appellant (or their representative) and the Local Member in which area the Appellant resides, if present.

According to the agenda, after hearing all parties,

The appellant and all Transport Coordination Service representative/s will withdraw from the hearing to allow the Appeals Committee to deliberate. The Democratic Services Officer to retire with them. All parties are requested to wait outside the meeting room should the Panel require further clarification. The Appeals Committee to seek Legal advice, if required.

Exclusion of Press and Public

The committee is asked to consider a resolution to exclude the press and public from the meeting during the discussion of the school transport appeals. The reason cited is that the discussions are likely to involve the disclosure of exempt information relating to individuals.
