November 26, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
The Lewisham Council Appointments Committee met on Wednesday 26 November 2025, and appointed Modester Anucha as Director of Housing Strategy. Councillor Will Cooper was appointed Chair for the meeting.
Appointment of Director of Housing Strategy
The committee resolved to appoint Modester Anucha as Director of Housing Strategy. It was also agreed that should Ms. Anucha withdraw from the process, the Executive Director of Housing would be given the authority to offer the role to reserve candidates in order of preference.
Exclusion of the Press and Public
The committee agreed to exclude the press and public from the meeting during the discussion of the appointment of the Director of Housing Strategy. This decision was made under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, due to the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12(A) of the Act. The committee agreed that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing the information.
Election of Chair
Councillor Will Cooper, Cabinet Member for Better Homes, Neighbourhoods and Homelessness, was appointed Chair for the meeting.
Apologies for Absence
Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Liam Shrivastava, Leader of the Lewisham Green Group.
