Field Maple House, 34 Lindridge Lane, Desford
The committee considered a planning application for the erection of four detached residential dwellings with associated garaging at Field Maple House, 34 Lindridge Lane, Desford. The application site is located within the countryside, outside of the Desford settlement boundary, and has a history of previous refusals for development.
Objectors, representatives of the applicant, and a representative of Desford Parish Council spoke on the application. The parish council raised concerns about highway safety due to the location of the access in a blind spot on a busy road outside the 30mph speed limit, and requested an extension of the 30mph zone and traffic calming measures. They also noted concerns regarding Biodiversity Net Gain, stating the current appraisal showed an overall loss of habitat units.
Despite the officer's recommendation to grant planning permission, Councillor R Webber-Jones moved a motion to refuse the application, which was lost. Subsequently, Councillor SL Bray moved a motion to defer the application for further discussion with the highways authority regarding extending the 30mph zone to cover the site entrance and to secure mature soft landscaping on the western boundary. This motion was carried, and the application was deferred.
Appeals Progress
Members were provided with an update on the progress of various appeals. This included information on appeals awaiting a decision, those with a hearing or inquiry scheduled, and those where a decision had recently been received. Notable decisions included the dismissal of an appeal for 100 dwellings at Land off York Close, Market Bosworth, and the dismissal of an appeal for a single-storey self-build dwelling at The White House, Bosworth Road, Wellsborough.
