The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Fire and Rescue Service Local Pension Board is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, 5th May 2026. Business Update

The Board will receive a comprehensive business update covering membership movements within the firefighters' pension schemes for Cornwall FRS and Isles of Scilly FRS for the quarter ending 31st March 2026. This update will also detail ongoing and future business issues faced by the Cornwall Pension Fund team.

• Membership Statistics: An overview of active, deferred, and pensioner members across the 1992, 2006, and 2015 Firefighters' Pension Schemes for both Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
• LGA FPS Bulletins: A review of bulletins issued by the Local Government Association (LGA) concerning Firefighters' Pension Schemes (FPS) in January, February, and March 2026. These bulletins provide updates on regulations, guidance, and actions required from scheme managers and administrators.
• Firefighters' Pension Schemes Risk Register: An update on the comprehensive risk register for the Firefighters' Pension schemes, noting any changes or new risks identified.
• Firefighters' Pension Schemes Breaches Log: A review of the log detailing any breaches of regulations related to the management and administration of the Firefighters' Pension Schemes.
• Firefighters' Pension Schemes Complaints Log: An update on any complaints received from scheme members.
• Internal Disputes Resolution Procedure (IDRP) Update: Information on any ongoing appeals being processed through the IDRP.
• CFRS Finance Update: A financial update from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS).
• Age Discrimination Remedy (McCloud/Sargeant): An update on the progress of implementing the remedy for age discrimination in public sector pension schemes, following court rulings. This includes details on how future and past discrimination is being addressed, and the provision of Annual Benefit Statements/Remediable Service Statements (ABS/RSS).
• Matthews Second Options Exercise: An update on the ongoing exercise related to the Matthews judgement, which allows certain retained firefighters to purchase additional pension entitlement. This includes progress on contacting eligible individuals, processing elections, and the challenges faced, such as the need for updated GAD calculators and potential extensions to deadlines.
• Secondary Contracts: An update on an issue identified with the administration of secondary contracts for some wholetime firefighters who have undertaken on-call duties. This involves rectifying records and ensuring fair treatment for affected firefighters.
