The Planning Committee of Hinckley and Bosworth Council was scheduled to discuss several significant planning applications, including proposals for new housing developments and extensions to existing properties. The meeting's agenda also included an update on planning appeals.
Field Maple House, 34 Lindridge Lane, Desford
The committee was scheduled to consider an application for the erection of four detached residential dwellings with associated garaging on land to the rear of 34 Lindridge Lane, Desford. This application had been deferred from a previous meeting for further discussion on landscaping and the extension of a 30mph speed limit on Lindridge Lane. The report indicated a recommendation to grant planning permission, subject to conditions.
36 London Road, Markfield
A householder planning application for a 1.5-storey side extension with a rear dormer at 36 London Road, Markfield, was scheduled for discussion. The extension was proposed to create additional bedrooms to accommodate children with neurodivergent needs. The report recommended granting planning permission, subject to conditions.
Land South of Jacqueline Road, Field Head
An outline application for the erection of up to 135 dwellings, amenity space, areas for outdoor play, landscaping, and associated infrastructure on land south of Jacqueline Road, Field Head, was a key item on the agenda. This significant development proposal, located outside the settlement boundary of Markfield and Field Head, was recommended for approval subject to a Section 106 Agreement and planning conditions. Concerns had been raised by residents regarding the loss of countryside, pressure on services, and highway safety.
Trinity Marina, Coventry Road, Hinckley
The committee was set to review an application for three apartment blocks comprising 76 one and two-bedroom apartments with associated parking and landscaping at Trinity Marina, Coventry Road, Hinckley. This application had been deferred from a previous meeting due to concerns about pedestrian access, security, parking, and traffic. Revised plans had been submitted, and while improvements were noted, concerns remained regarding pedestrian safety and the management of the private access road. The recommendation was to grant planning permission, subject to conditions and a unilateral undertaking.
Appeals Progress
An update on the progress of various planning appeals was also scheduled to be presented to the committee. This report detailed the status of appeals, including those at 223A Main Street, Thornton; land south of 59 Kennel Lane, Witherley; and 31 Regent Street, Hinckley.
