The Planning Committee of Hinckley and Bosworth Council met on Tuesday 7 April 2026 to discuss several planning applications. The committee granted planning permission for four detached residential dwellings at Field Maple House, Desford, and for a 1.5-storey side extension with a rear dormer at 36 London Road, Markfield. Permission was also granted for three apartment blocks comprising 76 one and two-bedroom apartments at Trinity Marina, Coventry Road, Hinckley. The outline application for up to 135 dwellings on land south of Jacqueline Road, Field Head, was deferred for further investigation into highway matters.
Field Maple House, 34 Lindridge Lane, Desford
The committee granted planning permission for the erection of four detached residential dwellings with associated garaging on land to the rear of 34 Lindridge Lane, Desford. Councillor Webber-Jones proposed refusal on grounds of highway safety and harm to the openness and character of the area, but this motion was not seconded. The decision was made subject to conditions detailed in the officer's report and late items, with authority delegated to the Assistant Director Planning and Regeneration to determine the final detail of planning conditions.
36 London Road, Markfield
Planning permission was granted for a 1.5-storey side extension with a rear dormer at 36 London Road, Markfield. Councillor Bray moved the motion for approval, seconded by Councillor Allen. An amendment was proposed by Councillor Allen and supported by Councillor Bray to consider removing permitted development rights due to the extent of the extensions. The amended motion was carried.
Trinity Marina, Coventry Road, Hinckley
Permission was granted for three apartment blocks comprising 76 one and two-bedroom apartments with associated parking and landscaping at Trinity Marina. The decision was made subject to the completion of a unilateral undertaking to secure obligations regarding travel packs and bus passes, and the conditions outlined in the officer's report and late items. Ward councillors will be consulted on the discharge of conditions 15 and 19. Authority was delegated to the Assistant Director Planning and Regeneration to determine the final detail of planning conditions.
Land South of Jacqueline Road, Field Head
The outline application for up to 135 dwellings on land south of Jacqueline Road, Field Head, was deferred. Members expressed concerns about potential highway issues and requested further investigation by the highways authority.
