The Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) of Newham Council met on Wednesday 4th February 2026 to discuss the annual report, priorities for the upcoming year, and student RE matters. Key decisions included the agreement of the 2025-2026 SACRE priorities and noting the findings from the NASACRE publication on annual reports.

The meeting was about approving the minutes from the previous meeting and considering the SACRE’s priorities for the year. The members were also scheduled to receive an update on the forum of faiths and the RE Matters programme.

SACRE - Wednesday 23rd October 2024 6.30 p.m.

The meeting began with the announcement that Newham SACRE had won a London-wide Interfaith Award for their work with the Student RE Matters programme. The meeting then discussed various upcoming events, including Diwali, Bandi Shor Devas, Vaisakhi, a civic carol service, and Interfaith Week, which will run from 10th-17th November 2024. The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold the next meeting on 12th February 2025.

The SACRE meeting on 19 June 2024 focused on the review of the Ofsted Deep Dive RE Report, setting priorities for the 2023-24 academic year, and discussing the importance of meaningful religious education. Key decisions included the adoption of the SACRE priorities for 2023-24 and the endorsement of the findings from the Ofsted report.
