The West Sub-Area Planning Committee of Cornwall Council met on 21 July 2025, and approved the demolition of a dwelling in Hayle, and the conversion of farm buildings in Redruth, while also delegating authority to the Chief Planning Officer for both. They also deferred a decision on the construction of houses in Redruth pending a site inspection, and refused permission in principle for a housing scheme in Helston.

The West Sub-Area Planning Committee met to discuss four planning applications and note a list of planning appeals. Councillors voted to refuse applications for manager's accommodation at Higher Penderleath Resort and for an extension to Wheal Cock Barn. Councillors voted to approve an application for a new dwelling at land east of Plen An Merther, subject to conditions being agreed. Councillors voted to approve permission in principle for the erection of a bungalow on land to the rear of North Roskear Road.

The Licensing Act Committee met to elect a chair and vice-chair, to review the Street Trading policy, and to discuss pavement licensing. Councillor Robin Moorcroft was elected Chairman of the Licensing Act Committee for 2025/26, and Councillor Damon Dennis was elected Vice-Chairman. The committee voted to allow the Street Trading Sub-Committee to also handle Pavement Licences, and authorised a public consultation on updates to the Street Trading Statement of Practices, Procedures and Policy.
