The Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Board met to discuss the strategic vision for 2035, children's health, safeguarding, mental health, and special educational needs. The board agreed to the recommendations in the report on the strategic vision for 2035 and the health and wellbeing strategy, and also agreed to note the contents of the reports on the children's healthy weight plan, the Children's Safeguarding Annual Report 2024-2025, the Safeguarding Adults Board Annual Report 2024-2025, the Children and Young People's Mental Health Needs Assessment, and the SEND Inspection Report and SEND Annual Report.

The Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Board met to discuss the development of a new health and wellbeing strategy for the borough, which is due in 2025. The workshop focused on understanding the health and wellbeing needs of Tower Hamlets residents, defining the strategy's unique purpose, and considering the current strategic context. The board also reflected on the principles that should underpin the strategy.

This meeting was about the Health and Wellbeing Board considering updates on various health and wellbeing programmes in the Borough, and preparations for upcoming inspections of services for children with special educational needs. The meeting also included an update on mental health provision, and consideration of the minutes of the previous meeting.

The meeting received annual reports from the Safeguarding Adults Board and the Safeguarding Children Partnership, as well as a progress report on the use of the recently insourced leisure services for clinical pathways, and began a discussion of a strategic vision for Tower Hamlets in 2035. The Board agreed to defer discussion of aligning the Health & Well-Being Board with the Tower Hamlets Together Board.
Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Board - Monday, 23rd September, 2024 5.00 p.m.
The meeting covered a number of urgent public health issues and new plans and policies to be implemented in the borough. The Board approved the North East London Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy 2024-2029 and the associated action plans for the borough, as well as the new Violence Against Women and Girls and Women's Safety Strategy 2024-29. They discussed the findings of the Annual Public Health Report and its implications for Tower Hamlets and heard updates on the Better Care Fund review, Children’s Mental Health Services and provision for Children with Special Educational Needs, including an update on the SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2024-2029. The Board noted a report on Maternity and Neonatal Demand and Capacity and also a report on Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2023. Finally, they received an update on preparations for the forthcoming Care Quality Commission inspection of Adult Social Care services.
