The Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Board are scheduled to meet on Tuesday, 13 May 2025. The main item for discussion is the development of a new Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The meeting will also cover standard items of business, such as noting declarations of interest.
Developing a new Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Strategy
The board will participate in a facilitated workshop to discuss the development of a new Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The current strategy, which was agreed in 2021, is coming to an end in 2025. The board will consider health trends, resident aspirations, available resources, policy drivers, risks, and opportunities to inform the new strategy.
The report pack states that it is a core responsibility of Health and Wellbeing Boards to have a strategy that:
is owned by the Board and that responds to the health and wellbeing needs and aspirations of its population.
The previous strategy was driven by what local people said mattered to them and set out six system-wide principles for improvement and five ambitions for a ‘health borough’. The principles were: better targeting; stronger networks; equalities and anti-racism in all we do; better communications; community first in all we do; and making the best use of what we have. The five ambitions for a healthy borough were: everyone can access safe, social spaces near their home to live healthy lives a community; children and families are healthy happy and confident; young adults have the opportunities, connections, and local support to live healthy lives; middle aged and older people are supported to lived healthy lives and get support early if they need to it; anyone needing help knows where to get it and is supported to find the right help.

The meeting will include an opportunity for members of the board to declare any disclosable pecuniary interests1. A note from the Monitoring Officer is included in the report pack, providing guidance on what constitutes an interest and the procedure for declaring it.
