Cardiff Council's Cabinet is scheduled to convene on Thursday, 19 March 2026, with a packed agenda covering a range of significant local issues. Key discussions are expected to revolve around the city's transport infrastructure, including the proposed Cardiff Active Travel Network Map and the awarding of a construction contract for Cardiff Crossrail Phase 1A. Accommodation Strategy Phase 2: Placement Commissioning and Eliminating Profit from Care

The Health and Social Care (Wales) Bill was introduced into the Senedd on 20th May. The Bill will restrict the making of profit in the provision of care home services to children, secure accommodation services and fostering services. It will place a requirement on all Welsh local authorities to secure sufficient accommodation provided by not-for-profit entities either within or near to its area. New providers of children’s residential care seeking to register with Care Inspectorate Wales, will be required to have not-for-profit status from 1st April 2026. Existing for-profit providers will need to transition to not-for-profit status by 1st April 2027.

Heritage Building Support - Park House

Park House in Park Place, Cardiff, is a Grade I listed building and has occupied a prominent space in our city close to the National Museum for over 150 years. The property’s condition has deteriorated and it is now at risk. The Council is working with an investor and Welsh Government to develop a business case for support.
