Tendring Cabinet decided on 23/05/2025 to continue with the existing waste and recycling collection and street sweeping contract procurement with amendments. The contract term will be reduced to three years with a two-year extension option, and the service specification will be reduced to ensure affordability. The council will not take financial risk on the value of DMR material collected or fund the up-front purchase of any vehicle fleet. An additional £100k budget will be made available for consultancy support.

Cabinet formally received and noted the Monitoring Officer's report and the findings of the Local Government & Social Care Ombudsman. This decision was made on 23/05/2025.

Tendring Cabinet noted indicative annual costs and the financial position of the council. Cabinet acknowledged a shorter contract term is necessary due to Local Government Reorganisation and authorised the Corporate Director (Operations and Delivery), in consultation with others, to exercise flexibility regarding the contract term.

Cabinet decided on 23/05/2025 to accept £197,761.00 from the Rural England Prosperity Fund for 2025 to 2026. They approved the allocation of £120,000.00 for the Business Grants Scheme and £77,761.00 for the Community Grants Scheme, along with the grant assessment criteria. The Portfolio Holders for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism and Arts, Culture and Heritage are authorised to approve grant awards, and the Section 151 Officer will sign the grant funding documentation.
