Extraordinary Meeting, County Council - Tuesday 14 October 2025 10.00 am
The Warwickshire County Council convened to bestow the title of Honorary Freeman of the County upon Councillor Jerry Roodhouse in recognition of his decades of public service. This rare honour, the highest civic distinction the council can award, acknowledges Councillor Roodhouse's significant contributions to the community, particularly in Rugby, and his work on behalf of Warwickshire at a national level. The council voted unanimously to approve the recommendation, and a ceremonial presentation will be arranged at a later date.
Extraordinary Meeting, County Council - Tuesday 14 October 2025 11.00 am
Warwickshire County Council met to discuss and comment on proposals for unitary local government in Warwickshire, with a final decision delegated to the cabinet. The council voted to recommend that the cabinet consider the importance of town and parish councils, that full constituent membership of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) would be the best arrangement, and that a single unitary council for Warwickshire is the optimum model for local governance. Amendments to the proposals were put forward but were all rejected.
County Council - Tuesday 23 September 2025 10.00 am
The Warwickshire County Council met to discuss a range of issues, including petitions relating to local concerns, funding for bus services, highway improvements, and a declaration of a special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) emergency. Councillors also debated motions on highways and investment in walking and cycling infrastructure.
Special Meeting, Resources and Fire & Rescue Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Monday 22 September 2025 10.00 am
The Resources and Fire & Rescue Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss a new flag policy and a compulsory purchase order (CPO) for the Wheat Street/Leicester Road area in Nuneaton. Councillors voted against a proposal to send the flag policy back to the cabinet for further discussion, and also voted against a proposal to publish the reasons behind decisions on whether or not to allow a flag to be flown. The committee agreed to hold a future meeting to examine the Wheat Street/Leicester Road CPO in greater detail.
Adult Social Care and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday 17 September 2025 10.00 am
The Adult Social Care and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss winter planning for urgent care, recommissioning of public health nursing services for young people, and the integrated performance report for quarter one. The committee requested more information on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in adult social care assessments, and agreed to add a discussion of direct payments to the work programme. The committee also approved the recommendations of the Quarter 1 Integrated Performance Report 2025/26.
