Annual Council - Tuesday 20th May, 2025 7.00 pm
The Annual Council meeting of the London Borough of Barnet on 20 May 2025 addressed several administrative and policy matters, including amendments to cabinet member responsibilities, a constitution review, and the approval of a Cumulative Impact Zone in Burnt Oak. Planning Committee - Monday 12th May, 2025 7.00 pm
The Barnet Council Planning Committee met on 12 May 2025, to discuss several planning applications. The committee approved an application for the demolition of garage blocks and construction of flats at Anastasia Mews, and another for the demolition of a dwelling and erection of flats at 88 West Heath Road. They refused an application for extensions to a dwelling at 34 Tenterden Gardens. Two applications relating to the rear of 39 Alexandra Road were deferred for a formal decision at the next meeting.
Strategic Planning Committee - Tuesday 6th May, 2025 7.00 pm
The Barnet Council Strategic Planning Committee met on 6 May 2025, and voted to refuse planning permission for Hasmonean High School, and agreed the minutes of the previous meeting.
Pension Fund Committee - Wednesday 2nd April, 2025 7.00 pm
The Barnet Council Pension Fund Committee met to discuss the fund's performance, compliance, and future strategy. Key decisions included noting progress on rectifying past financial issues, reviewing risk management, and approving actions to align with asset pooling objectives, including transitioning holdings to the London CIV's Multi Asset Credit Fund and committing to the London Private Debt Fund II. The committee also discussed the impact of the government's consultation on the future of Local Government Pension Schemes (LGPS).
Planning Committee - Tuesday 1st April, 2025 7.00 pm
The Planning Committee approved applications for developments at White Ways, 35 Hoop Lane and 1 Winterworth Road, 26 Abbots Gardens and David Lloyd Leisure Centre. Councillors refused an application for 7 Gloucester Gardens after a tied vote, with Councillor Claire Farrier, Chair of the Planning Committee using her casting vote.
