About

The Barnet Planning Committee is responsible for deciding on various planning applications within the borough, except for those specifically assigned to the Strategic Planning Committee. This includes applications for planning permission, listed building consent, advertisement consent, and permissions in principle. The committee also handles decisions on applications that may lead to compensation claims for the council, or any matter referred by the Chief Planning Officer. It determines applications for tree preservation orders and hedgerow removal, as well as applications to demolish buildings on the council's local list. The committee's decisions are particularly significant when there are substantial public objections or when a local councillor refers an application affecting their ward.
