Post 16 Travel Assistance Policy

The Wiltshire Council Cabinet decided to approve recommendations for a revised Post 16 Travel Assistance Policy and Statement for SEND learners on 06/05/2026. The Cabinet also approved amendments to proposed waiting restrictions in Melksham. The waiting restrictions will be implemented with amendments including no waiting at any time on Westlands Lane, Mitchell Drive junction with Barns Wallis Close, and Mitchell Drive junction with Halifax Road.

Wiltshire Local Plan - next steps

The Cabinet recommended to Full Council that the Wiltshire Local Plan Pre-Submission Draft 2020-2038 be withdrawn from examination. The Cabinet also delegated to the Director of Planning, Economic and Regeneration, in consultation with the Director for Legal and Governance, to take all necessary steps to complete the withdrawal. A report will be brought to Cabinet before 30 June 2026 to seek approval to commence a new Local Plan.

Substance Use Grant Delegation

Wiltshire Council Cabinet agreed on 06/05/2026 to allocate funding to Turning Point. The Cabinet agreed to allocate a portion of funding from the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities to the existing Substance Misuse Services Agreement with Turning Point. Authority was delegated to the Director of Public Health and Corporate Director of Resources to approve and enter into a Deed of Variation with Turning Point.

Connect to Work

Wiltshire Council Cabinet approved the acceptance of the Connect to Work Grant from the Department for Work and Pensions on 29/04/2026. The Cabinet approved a £2.2m grant award to The Shaw Trust Limited for specialist IPS provision and delegated subsequent specialist delivery approvals to directors in consultation with the Lead Member.

The Cabinet also approved delegation of contract awards to the Director of Highways and Transport, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Highways, Streetscene and Flooding. This decision was made on 29 April 2026.
