Welsh Language Standards: Annual Report 2024/25

Local Authorities have a statutory duty under section 44 of the Welsh Language [Wales] Measure 2011 to comply with regulation ‘Welsh language standards’. Cardiff Council is under a duty to comply with standards relating to producing and publishing an Annual Report. This will be the eighth annual report produced under the Welsh language standards.

Cardiff CrossRail Phase 1A Transport and Works Act (TWA) Order

The CrossRail Phase 1A project will be subject to statutory legal process known as a Traffic Works Act (TWA) Order. The legislation is required to authorise schemes mainly for new railways or tramways in England and Wales. Applications for TWA orders In Wales are made to the Welsh ministers through Planning and Environment Decision Wales (PEDW). Applications are made by (or on behalf of) the promoters of the scheme, in this instance Cardiff Council. Cabinet Approval is required to begin the process and submit to PEDW and Welsh Ministers.

Proposal to Federate The Saints Federation and St Mellons Church in Wales Primary School

The Saints Federation was established in February 2024 and consists of All Saints CW Primary School and St David’s CW Primary School. Collaboration arrangements between The Saints Federation and St Mellons CW Primary School were introduced in September 2024. Since September 2024, The Executive Headteacher of The Saints Federation has worked proactively to develop the collaboration, working in partnership with the three schools, the Local Authority and the Central South Consortium. Following the recent Estyn inspection of St Mellon’s CW Primary School the Local Authority is proposing the current collaboration arrangements be formalised by adding St Mellon’s CW Primary School to The Saints Federation.
