AGM, Council - Tuesday, 21 May 2024 10.00 am
The meeting saw Councillor Saj Hussain and Councillor Tim Hall re-elected unopposed as Chair and Vice-Chair of the council respectively. It also saw the adoption of the scheme of proportionality for the coming year, approval of the appointment of various committees, chairmen and vice-chairmen, as well as the appointment of Michael Coughlin as Interim Head of Paid Service from 3 June 2024 to 18 August 2024. Matthew Woods was also appointed as the independent member of the Audit and Governance Committee for a period of four years.
Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Economic Growth Decisions - Tuesday, 23 April 2024 12.30 pm
Surrey County Council has decided to introduce an advisory disabled parking bay outside 18-20 Buckland Road in response to a petition submitted by a local resident. It was also decided that the Council will not immediately introduce traffic calming measures on Crawley Ridge in response to a petition submitted by the headteacher of Crawley Ridge Junior School.
Cabinet - Tuesday, 23 April 2024 2.00 pm
The Cabinet approved funding to renew 15 utility blocks at the Kalima Gypsy Roma Traveller (GRT) Camp in Woking, and agreed to provide capital funding to three Your Fund Surrey
projects: a new community building and scout headquarters in Ash Vale, a new sports pavilion in Epsom, and the renovation of a community hub in Haslemere. They also noted the month 11 financial report.

The meeting approved the appointments of a new Chief Executive and an interim Monitoring Officer for Surrey County Council. Councillors also received apologies from absent Councillors.

The Cabinet of Surrey County Council met on 26 March 2024 and made a number of decisions on subjects ranging from school building works to advertising policy. Notably, the Cabinet approved, in principle, the latest phase of the Surrey Infrastructure Plan, including new flood alleviation schemes. The Cabinet also discussed the future of advertising on Surrey's roads, and decided to write to the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) to understand how they are considering the environmental impact of advertising high-carbon products and services.

Devolution And Local Government Reorganisation Update

...to progress Surrey's Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation (D&LGR) programme, the Cabinet agreed to have the Leader of the Council determine the requirements for establishing a Combined Fire and Rescue Authority (CFRA) and to work with the Secretary of State to ensure debt support for Woking and Spelthorne Borough Councils, prevent the West Surrey Unitary Council from selling assets to reduce debt, and resolve the debt situations before the summer recess in 2026.
