Extraordinary Meeting, Cabinet - Wednesday, 7 May 2025 2.30 pm
The Surrey County Council cabinet met to approve the final plan for local government reorganisation (LGR) in Surrey, which proposes dividing the county into east and west unitary authorities, and to agree that Tim Oliver OBE, Leader of the Council, submits the plan to the government by the 9 May deadline. The cabinet also considered a report from the Council’s Select Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs group regarding devolution and LGR.

The Surrey County Council cabinet met to discuss the adoption of the Rights of Way Improvement Plan, the disposal of the former Chalk Pit Depot, and the month 11 financial report. The Rights of Way Improvement Plan was approved, as was the sale of the Chalk Pit Depot. The cabinet also approved a transfer of funds for waste infrastructure maintenance and a reimbursement to Waverley Borough Council.

The Communities, Environment and Highways Select Committee met on 10 April 2025 to discuss a utilities engagement programme, highways term maintenance contract performance and a forward work programme. The committee was also scheduled to discuss questions submitted by the councillors.
Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Economic Growth Decisions - Monday, 24 March 2025 12.00 pm
During the meeting, Surrey County Council's Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Economic Growth, Councillor Matt Furniss, approved the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) Phase 4 grant investment decisions, an update to the Highways and Transportation Asset Management Strategy, and changes to the Highway Hierarchy Policy, particularly concerning footways. The meeting also included a procedural item to exclude the public from a portion of the meeting to discuss exempt information.
Extraordinary Meeting, Cabinet - Tuesday, 18 March 2025 2.30 pm
The Cabinet of Surrey County Council voted to approve an interim plan for local government reorganisation in Surrey, based around the creation of two new unitary authorities to replace the existing two-tier system of a county council and 11 district and borough councils. The Council's preferred model of two unitary authorities will now be submitted to the government for consideration, alongside an alternative proposal for a three-unitary model put forward by the boroughs and districts.

Surrey Schools And Early Years Funding 2026/27

...to comply with Department for Education regulations and meet statutory deadlines, the Cabinet approved the application to transfer 1% of schools' block funding to support high needs SEND costs, agreed to the general principles for schools funding in 2026/27 recommended by the Schools Forum, agreed to continue additional funding to primary schools with disproportionately high incidence of SEND and those with temporary falls in roll, agreed to the principles of Surrey's early years funding formula for 2026/27, and delegated authority to the Director of Education and Lifelong Learning to approve amendments to the funding rates in the schools and early years funding formulae.
