Governance Committee - Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025 7.00 pm
The Governance Committee of Lewisham Council met on 23 April 2025 to discuss apologies for absence, the minutes of the previous meeting, declarations of interest, and a constitutional update report. The bulk of the meeting was scheduled to be dedicated to the constitutional update report. This report covered feedback from a workshop and recommendations for approval and adoption at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the council on 7 May 2025.
Governance Committee - Thursday, 13th March, 2025 7.00 pm
The meeting on 13 March 2025 was the second Governance Committee meeting about the Council's ongoing review of its constitution. The meeting included a discussion of proposed changes to the powers of the council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee, how Councillors should work with council officers, and the rules that should govern how councillors use council technology. It also included the proposed adoption of a new code of conduct for council employees.
Governance Committee - Tuesday, 4th March, 2025 7.00 pm
The Governance Committee of Lewisham Council met on Tuesday 04 March 2025 at 7pm and resolved to recommend a series of amendments to the Lewisham Council constitution[^1] to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Council on 7 May 2025. The amendments would remove Local Assemblies from the constitution, reduce the number of topics that can be discussed at Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs) of the council, limit the length of time given over to motions at council meetings, and prevent Cabinet Advisors from being members of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
Works Council - Tuesday, 1st October, 2024 7.00 pm
This meeting of the Works Council was scheduled to elect a new Chair and Vice Chair for the 2024/25 municipal year, and then to hear updates from the Employer and Union sides of the committee.
Mayor and Cabinet - Wednesday, 18th September, 2024 6.00 pm
The meeting considered the recommendations of two task & finish group reports and made several decisions on financial and procurement matters. Decisions made include approving the Treasury Management Outturn report for 2023/24, adopting the Asset Management Strategy 2024-2034, approving the grant of leases for seven community assets, approving the development of three new children’s homes, and approving the submission of a planning application for the Achilles Street Estate regeneration.
