The Strategic Licensing Committee of Shropshire Council met on 8 October 2025 to discuss licensing fees and charges for 2026-2027, and to review the exercise of delegated powers. The meeting was scheduled to cover a range of topics, including statutory fees for various licenses, discretionary fees for activities like gambling and animal-related services, and the implementation of a Relevant Protected Site fees policy. The committee was also expected to review licenses issued and variations made between June and August 2025.

The Licensing Act Sub-Committee convened to elect a chairman for the meeting and to consider an application for a new premises licence for Rowley’s Mansion Courtyard, Barker Street, Shrewsbury. Councillor Nigel Lumby was elected Chairman, and the committee resolved to grant the premises licence subject to additional conditions for the prevention of public nuisance.

The Licensing Act Sub-Committee convened to elect a chair for the meeting, and then to discuss an application for the review of a premises licence. The committee approved a motion to exclude the press and public from the discussion of the application, and then approved the recommendations in the report. Councillor Jon Tandy was elected as Chairman of the Sub-Committee for the duration of the meeting.
