Extraordinary Council, Council - Tuesday 2nd December, 2025 7.00 pm

The London Borough of Barnet Council held an extraordinary meeting to discuss a motion regarding secrecy and failures in corporate parenting following the deaths of three care-experienced young people. The council voted against an amendment to the motion, and then voted to approve an amended version of the motion. The approved motion included a commitment to inform all corporate parents immediately of any event involving looked-after young persons which may reasonably be expected to require an inquest, and that reviews will always take place following such inquests for all care experienced young people where the death is not linked to natural causes.

Governance, Audit, Risk Management and Standards Committee (GARMS) - Thursday 27th November, 2025 7.00 pm

The Governance, Audit, Risk Management and Standards Committee (GARMS) convened to discuss a range of topics, including the council's anti-fraud strategy, risk management, internal and external audit progress, treasury management, and member development programmes. The committee noted the progress made in various areas and provided feedback on proposed plans, particularly regarding member training and induction.

Council - Tuesday 21st October, 2025 7.00 pm

The Barnet Council meeting on 21 October 2025 included tributes to former councillors Vanessa Gearson and Agnes Slocum, a discussion on high streets resulting in a decision to provide a written response to a deputation, and a discussion on public engagement in major developments, also resulting in a decision to provide a written report. The council also unanimously carried a joint motion condemning the Yom Kippur terrorist attack in Manchester.

Pension Fund Committee - Monday 15th September, 2025 7.00 pm

The Pension Fund Committee met to discuss the performance and management of the fund, including updates on administration, investment strategy, and risk management. The committee noted reports on administration performance, external audit, risk management, knowledge and understanding, and investment performance. Members also discussed and approved a draft funding strategy statement and an academies funding policy.

Council - Tuesday 8th July, 2025 7.00 pm

The meeting of the Council of the London Borough of Barnet on 8 July 2025 was scheduled to cover a range of topics, including motions on national gambling reform, housing, and climate change, as well as reports from various committees and officers. Councillors were also expected to discuss a deputation regarding EV charging points.
