The Overview and Scrutiny Committee of Lambeth Council met on Wednesday 19 November 2025, to discuss a range of topics including the fortnightly black bin collection, proposals relating to parks in the borough, and the committee's work programme. A supplementary agenda was published to include discussion of the Medium Term Financial Strategy Savings Proposals.
Children's Services Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Thursday 9 October 2025 7.00 pm
The Children's Services Scrutiny Sub-Committee convened to discuss the effectiveness of the Corporate Safeguarding Policy and to review the Sub-Committee's work programme for the year. The Sub-Committee agreed to note the content of the Corporate Safeguarding Assurance report, and also agreed to the items to be presented at the meeting on 5 February 2026.
Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 22 July 2025 7.00 pm
The Lambeth Council Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the condition of the borough's highways and pavements, and to review the council's approach to managing and investing in its housing stock and estates. The committee made several recommendations regarding the prioritisation of road repairs, communication with residents, and collaboration with Transport for London (TfL). The committee also discussed a new asset management framework for council housing, and a policy for the disposal of Housing Revenue Account (HRA) assets.
Children's Services Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Tuesday 8 July 2025 7.00 pm
The Children's Services Scrutiny Sub-Committee met to discuss special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and alternative provision, elective home education, and to receive an Ofsted update. The sub-committee agreed to receive an update on the results of the annual families survey and report back at the next milestone, to include awareness of the process of elective home education in the corporate safeguarding training, and to circulate a breakdown of the demographic data in relation to children who were electively home educated and the reasonings parents provided for electively home educating their children. The sub-committee also agreed to note the content of the Ofsted update report and that the pupil place planning report scheduled for October include an update on the lessons learned from the school adjudicators decision.
