Annual Meeting, Council - Thursday, 22nd May, 2025 7.30 pm

The Waltham Forest Council meeting scheduled for 22 May 2025 included the election of a new Mayor, the appointment of councillors to various committees and outside bodies, and a review of the council's scheme of delegation. Councillors were also scheduled to discuss the programme of meetings for the upcoming year.

Review of a premises licence application: E11 Coffee Lounge, 34 Church Lane, Leytonstone, E11 1HG, Licensing Act 2003 Sub-Committee - Tuesday, 29th April, 2025 10.00 am

The Licensing Act 2003 Sub-Committee convened to review the premises licence for E11 Coffee Lounge, located at 34 Church Lane, Leytonstone. Following a hearing and deliberations, the sub-committee decided to revoke the premises licence, citing concerns over the prevention of crime and disorder and public safety.

Council - Thursday, 24th April, 2025 7.30 pm

At a meeting of the Waltham Forest Council, councillors approved an updated Local Development Scheme and declared a Nature Emergency in the borough. The council also paid tribute to former Councillor Mohammad Asghar, father of Councillor Naheed Asghar, Portfolio Lead Member - Inclusive Economy, who had recently passed away.

Review of a Premises Licence: Unions Cafe, 373 High Road, Leyton, E10 5NA, Licensing Act 2003 Sub-Committee - Tuesday, 1st April, 2025 2.00 pm

The Licensing Act 2003 Sub-Committee met to review the premises licence for Unions Cafe, and decided to suspend the licence for one month. The review was prompted by an incident where the premises licence holder (PLH) obstructed Immigration Enforcement officers, leading to police involvement. The suspension aims to allow authorities to work with the cafe's management and assess their understanding of relevant training to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Special Meeting: Annual Budget and Council Tax Setting, Council - Thursday, 27th February, 2025 7.30 pm

This meeting is scheduled to cover a wide range of financial matters, including the Council's budget for 2025-26, the rates at which it will charge fees for its services, its plans to invest in new buildings and infrastructure and the pay of its employees. The meeting is also scheduled to include the appointment of Paul Calaminus to the Health and Wellbeing Board.
