Council - Thursday, 18th September, 2025 7.15 pm
Islington Council met on 18 September 2025, and voted to establish a twinning agreement with Azaria, a Palestinian town in East Jerusalem, as a gesture of friendship and solidarity. Councillors also approved updates to the council's constitution and Members' Allowances Scheme, and discussed a quarterly monitoring report.
Council - Thursday, 10th July, 2025 7.15 pm
At a meeting of Islington Council, councillors discussed a range of issues including the impact of government cuts, the importance of social value in procurement, and support for private renters. Councillors voted to support motions on embedding social value and compliance in procurement, supporting private renters, and recognising the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and the local campaign to save the Upper Street Post Office. An original motion opposing cuts to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) was amended and then carried.
Annual Council - Thursday, 15th May, 2025 7.15 pm
At the Annual Council meeting, Councillor Jason Jackson was elected as Mayor of Islington, becoming the first black man to hold the post. Councillor Rosalyn Ngongoro was appointed as Deputy Mayor, and councillors were assigned to various committees and outside organisations. The council also formally appointed Paul Clarke as Interim Section 151 Officer[^1].
Corporate Resources and Economy Scrutiny Committee - Thursday, 1st May, 2025 7.30 pm
The Corporate Resources and Economy Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the annual review of the council's five missions, the scrutiny in Islington annual report, and the draft recommendations of a scrutiny review into progressive procurement. The committee agreed in principle the draft recommendations of the scrutiny review into progressive procurement, and will circulate a perfected draft for final comment. They also discussed the Q4 performance deep dive, and agreed to focus on areas where the RAG rating[^1] was amber or red.

The Licensing Sub Committee A scheduled a meeting to take place on 24 April 2025, to discuss several licensing applications. Councillor Heather Staff was scheduled to chair the meeting. The committee was expected to review new premises applications for Doppio Zero, Sweety Cooky, and The National Youth Theatre, as well as a premises licence variation for the Archway Tavern.
