Cardiff Council's Cabinet is scheduled to convene on Thursday, 19 March 2026, with a packed agenda covering a range of significant local issues. Key discussions are expected to revolve around the city's transport infrastructure, including the proposed Cardiff Active Travel Network Map and the awarding of a construction contract for Cardiff Crossrail Phase 1A. The Cabinet will also consider the Child Friendly Cardiff UNICEF Reaccreditation Assessment, school admission arrangements for the upcoming academic year, and the Council's Pay Policy Statement for 2026/27. Future of School Improvement in Cardiff

In November 2024, Cabinet received a report which set out the Education Directorate’s proposed response to the Welsh Government Review of the Middle Tier arrangements for School Improvement. Further to this report, we are now seeking Cabinet approval to proceed with the creation of a new operating model for school improvement functions in Cardiff from September 2025, and a renewed regional model for professional learning and curriculum support through a collaboration agreement among the five local authorities within the Central South footprint.
