Scrutiny Streets & Environment Sub-Committee - Tuesday, 27th January, 2026 6.30 pm

General Purposes Committee - Tuesday, 13th January, 2026 6.30 pm
The General Purposes Committee of Croydon Council met on Tuesday 13 January 2026 to discuss and recommend changes to the Members' Allowances Scheme for the 2026-27 financial year. The committee unanimously agreed to recommend to Full Council an uplift in basic and special responsibility allowances of 3.2% and an annual inflationary increase to expenses, while noting that a wider review of expenses is ongoing.

The Croydon Council's General Purposes Committee met to discuss and approve a 3.2% increase to the Members' Allowance Scheme, and to agree the schedule of council meetings for 2026-27. The committee voted to recommend both items to the full council for final approval.

At a meeting of Croydon Council, the lead commissioner gave a statement on behalf of the commissioners, the council approved recommendations regarding external audit findings and extension to the term of the Independent Chair of Audit and Governance Committee, and councillors debated traffic calming measures on Spa Hill and improvements to Courtwood Park.
