Overview and Scrutiny Committee

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee supports the work of the Cabinet and the Council by reviewing decisions and making recommendations, excluding health matters which are handled by the Health Scrutiny Committee. It scrutinises key decisions made by the Cabinet and other decision-makers, with the power to 'Call-In' decisions for reconsideration if they are not yet implemented. The committee also reviews matters concerning partner organisations in Barking and Dagenham, such as health, education, and law and order, to ensure public authorities operate effectively and in the public interest.
