Purpose
The Cabinet will be asked to approve the allocation of
funding to upgrade the sprinkler system at
Crossness Yard, 12 Thames Road, Barking, to enhance the letting
potential of the site.
Content
Cabinet resolved to:
(i) Endorse the proposed
interim solution for secondary power at 12 Thames Road approved by
the Principal Accountable Person (LBBD) to enable the transfer and
occupation of the residential units;
(ii) Approve the upgrade
of the sprinkler system at Crossness Yard from an Ordinary Hazard 3
System to a High Hazard System, to enhance the lettings potential
of the light-industrial units;
(iii) Approve additional budget
provision of £3.166m to meet the projected costs of the
interim secondary power solution and upgraded sprinkler system;
(iv) Delegate authority to the
Strategic Director, Inclusive Growth and Place, to procure
contractors, designers and surveyors to implement the design and
upgrade of the sprinkler systems and installation of the secondary
power solution; and
(v) Delegate authority to the
Strategic Director, Inclusive Growth and Place, in consultation
with the Head of Legal, to take such action as supported by legal
advice, including the commencement of legal proceedings against
relevant parties, to recover any damages, costs and expenses
associated with the secondary power non-compliance issue.
