Planning Committee

The Cheltenham Planning Committee is responsible for deciding on significant planning applications that attract public interest, which are not handled by planning officers. The committee reviews detailed reports prepared by planning officers, including assessments, consultee comments, and public submissions, before making a decision. It can approve, refuse, or defer applications, with decisions communicated promptly. Members of the public can present their views directly to the committee, in addition to making written submissions, with specific speaking slots allocated for support, objection, and local councillors.
