Purpose

To agree the final submission on Local Government
Reorganisation to the Ministry of
Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Decision

It was unanimously RESOLVED that Cabinet:
 
1.       Noted the
comprehensive local engagement undertaken as part of the proposal
development process, including engagement with stakeholders and
residents across Hampshire and the Solent area; acknowledges the
range of views expressed, and the steps taken to incorporate
feedback within the Business Case.
 
2.       Approved the final
Business Case and appendices (annexed to this report), which
collectively form East Hampshire District Council’s
submission to Government.
 
3.       Authorised the
Leader of East Hampshire District Council to submit the District
Council’s final business case for Local Government
Reorganisation jointly with Hampshire County Council to Government
for the Hampshire and the Solent area.
 
4.       Delegated authority
to the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of East
Hampshire District Council, to approve any minor amendments to the
Business Case that may be required, ensuring timely
submission.
 
5.       Delegated authority
to the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of East
Hampshire District Council, to submit East Hampshire District
Council's response to Government's public consultation on Local
Government Reorganisation in the Hampshire and the Solent
area.
