The Policy and Oversight Board acts as an Overview and Scrutiny Committee, with powers granted by the Local Government Act 2000 and the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007. It is responsible for coordinating and developing the Council's policy and scrutiny functions, and monitoring their performance.
The Board develops policy and makes recommendations to the Cabinet. It also monitors the administration and spending of Council services, reviews the impact of implemented decisions and policies, and scrutinises relevant Cabinet Members. Its scope includes considering the corporate budget, developing savings plans, overseeing finance and resource use, and managing performance across various council services and joint working arrangements.
