About

The Standards Committee promotes and maintains high standards of conduct for councillors and other representatives. It advises the Council on its Members' Code of Conduct, monitors its operation, and develops local protocols to supplement it. The committee enforces these protocols and can apply sanctions for breaches. It also handles all functions related to determining allegations of code of conduct breaches by members, including appointing sub-committees to assist. The committee's work is informed by the Cooperative Council Principles and statutory requirements under the Localism Act 2011.
