The Safer Stronger Communities Select Committee scrutinises and makes recommendations on local issues such as policing, crime, equalities, community engagement, and libraries. It provides a forum for councillors to question council officers and cabinet members, and to influence decisions made by the Mayor and Cabinet. The committee also engages with residents, the Police, Fire Brigade, and community groups. It selects the specific community safety, equalities, and engagement issues it will focus on annually, considering them across its five formal meetings.
