About

The Audit Committee is responsible for overseeing the Council's internal audit arrangements and ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources for value for money. It approves the Internal Audit Charter and Annual Audit Plan, reviews audit findings, and assesses improvements to prevent fraud and corruption.

The committee also monitors the Council's relationship with its external auditor, reviews financial procedures, and oversees corporate governance arrangements, including the Annual Governance Statement. It works with the Standards Committee on member and officer codes of conduct and reviews treasury management strategies and risk management arrangements.
