About

The Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Panel is a joint committee established to scrutinise the work of the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner. It was created under the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011, which replaced Police Authorities with directly elected Commissioners.

The Panel's primary role is to hold the Commissioner to account on behalf of the public. While the Commissioner is responsible for setting strategic objectives and is accountable to the electorate for police performance, the Panel provides an important scrutiny function. Peterborough City Council hosts the Cambridgeshire Panel.
