Appointment Committee

The Appointment Committee meets to determine arrangements for the appointment and conditions of service of the Chief Executive and the Executive Directors in accordance with Part 8B of the Council’s Constitution. Recommendations will then be made to a meeting of Council, in order to appoint the chosen candidate to their statutory role. This includes the Chief Executive or Chief Financial Officer for example.   This committee meets ad hoc whenever a vacancy arises and is usually held during the daytime. Meetings which involve the conduction of interviews will usually move into a private session, however as much information will be published within the publicly accessible minutes as possible.   5 Councillors form part of the committee, with the Chair being the Leader of the Council, the Vice-Chair being the Deputy Leader of the Council, plus 3 others who are politically balanced.   The Terms of Reference for this meeting outlines further information and can be found in Part 6 of the Council’s Constitution.
