The Court of Aldermen was scheduled to convene for a special meeting on Friday, 17 April 2026, at the Mansion House. The primary purpose of the meeting was to formally present Letters Patent confirming the grant of Livery to the Worshipful Company of Communicators.
Presentation of Letters Patent to the Worshipful Company of Communicators
The meeting's agenda centred on the formal presentation of Letters Patent, which would confirm the grant of Livery to the Worshipful Company of Communicators. This significant event was scheduled to take place in the Old Ballroom at the Mansion House. The report pack outlined a specific order of proceedings for the ceremony. Aldermen were expected to assemble in the Long Parlour by 4:45 pm, where scarlet gowns would be available, and to wear Old Bailey Breeches (OBNo1Dress) as their court dress. Following this, a procession of Aldermen and Officers would proceed to the Old Ballroom for the Court of Aldermen meeting, which was due to commence at 5:00 pm with The Lady Mayor, Dame Susan Langley, DBE, taking the Chair.
The Master, Wardens, and Clerk of the Worshipful Company of Communicators were to be announced and seated within the Bar of the Court. The Town Clerk was scheduled to announce the purpose of the meeting and read the Order of the Court from 4 February 2025, which granted Livery to the Company. Subsequently, the Clerk of the Chamberlain's Court would read the Letters Patent. The Master of the Company would then advance to receive the Letters Patent from The Lady Mayor, after which the Master would reply on behalf of the Company. Following the conclusion of the Court of Aldermen proceedings, The Lady Mayor would escort the Master from the Old Ballroom, with Aldermen and Officers departing in procession. The Master and Wardens were then to host guests in the Salon.
The grant of Livery signifies a significant milestone for a Livery Company, granting it a more formal status and recognition within the City of London's governance structure. The Worshipful Company of Communicators, established to represent professionals in the communications industry, would, upon receipt of these Letters Patent, solidify its position and privileges within the City's ancient framework of Livery Companies.
