The Court of Aldermen, presided over by the Lord Mayor and comprising the 25 Aldermen and the Recorder of London, is responsible for overseeing the progression to High Office, including the Shrievalty and Mayoralty, through its Nominations Committee. It also manages operational and financial matters for the Mansion House and the Central Criminal Court, makes appointments to various committees and external bodies, and oversees the Lord Mayor's engagement and promotional activities via its General Purposes Committee. Aldermen are elected for each City ward and meet publicly seven times annually.
