Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Sutton and are not the council. About us
The Sutton Local Committee was scheduled to discuss community funding opportunities and hear from local groups. The meeting agenda included an overview of the Neighbourhood Fund and wider funding grants, as well as a community showcase from People Arise Now.
Community Funding and Engagement
The committee was set to receive an overview of the Neighbourhood Fund, detailing its purpose, eligible uses, and application timelines. This was followed by a presentation on wider funding opportunities and previously awarded Local Funding Grants. A Community Showcase
was also scheduled, featuring the group People Arise Now, with the aim of informing attendees on how they could get involved with the organisation.
Public Questions and Procedural Matters
The agenda also allocated time for public questions, allowing residents to raise local issues. The committee was scheduled to consider the minutes from the previous meeting held on 12 February 2026. There was also a provision for considering any urgent business that the Chair, Councillor Sam Cumber, deemed necessary due to special circumstances.
The meeting was scheduled to take place at The Salvation Army, 45 Benhill Avenue, Sutton, SM1 4DD, with Councillor Sam Cumber serving as Chair and Councillor Louise Phelan as Vice-Chair. The attendees included several councillors and community representatives from various local groups, including the Burnell & Lewis Residents' Association, Manor Park Friends' Group, Friends of Quarry Park, Friends of Rosehill Parks, Friends of Sutton Green, Friends of Seears Park and Perretts Fields, Sutton Garden Suburb Residents Association, Sutton Churches Tennis Club, Sutton New Town Community Festival, and Friends of the Dr George Rice Community Garden.
