Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Northumberland and are not the council. About us
The Castle Morpeth Community Partnership is scheduled to meet on Monday 21 September 2026. The agenda includes discussions on public petitions, an informal session covering budget review, library services, and the old Morpeth Leisure Centre, as well as public question time.
Public Petitions
The meeting is scheduled to receive any new petitions submitted by the public. The lead petitioner for any new petition will have an opportunity to briefly introduce it, with responses to be organised for a future meeting. Two e-petitions have recently been opened on the Council's website: Keep Kirkhill Connected,
which calls for improvements to the number 2 bus route from Morpeth to Kirkhill to ensure a more reliable service, and a petition regarding Public Transport in Stannington Station.
The Partnership will also consider reports on petitions previously received and receive any updates on petitions for which a report was previously considered.
Informal Discussion Session
An informal discussion is scheduled to cover several key local topics. These include a review of the current budget, the future of the library service, and the status of the old Morpeth Leisure Centre.
Public Question Time
Members of the public will have the opportunity to ask questions. Questions can be submitted in writing in advance of the meeting or asked on the day, concerning issues for which the Council has responsibility. The Chair of the meeting has discretion over the management of public question time, and certain questions may be rejected if they require the disclosure of confidential or exempt information, are defamatory, frivolous, offensive, substantially the same as previous questions, or if the cost of providing an answer is disproportionate. Written answers to questions will be made available to members after the meeting and will also be publicly accessible. Democratic Services will also provide updates on the progress of any previously requested written answers and follow up on any related actions.
