Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on West Yorkshire Combined Authority and are not the council. About us
The Weaver Network Board is scheduled to consider updates on bus franchising and proposed changes to home-to-school transport. The board will also receive an update from the Mayor and consider a proposal from Northern regarding car parking charges at West Yorkshire rail stations.
Bus Franchising Update
The board is scheduled to receive an update on the progress of the Bus Franchising transition programme for West Yorkshire. This programme aims to bring bus services under public control, a key pledge in the West Yorkshire Mayor's[^1] manifesto.
Proposed Changes to Home to School Transport
A report is scheduled to update the Weaver Network Board on the next phase of implementing the Home to School Transport Policy. This policy was adopted by the Combined Authority[^2] in July 2025. The board is expected to be asked to approve the commencement of a public consultation in late September 2026 regarding proposed changes to school services. If implemented, these changes would take effect from May and September 2027.
Proposal by Northern to Charge for Car Parking at West Yorkshire Rail Stations
The board is scheduled to consider a proposal from Northern[^3], the train operating company, to introduce charges for car parking at West Yorkshire rail stations.
