The Planning Sub-Committee of Hackney Council met on Wednesday 7 October 2026 to discuss three planning applications. The committee resolved to defer one application for further information, and granted conditional planning permission for the other two.

Wayman Court Car Park, Eleanor Road, E8 1DN

The committee deferred the application for the demolition of existing garages and structures and the construction of 22 new residential dwellings at Wayman Court Car Park. This decision was made to allow for further information to be gathered and brought back to a future meeting. The proposal included associated amenity space, cycle parking, refuse stores, landscaping, play space, and improvements to the public realm. Objectors Oliva Gordon, Melissa Simmonds, and Sean Erat spoke against the application, while Jenifer Langton of LBH Development Management spoke in support.

25 Amhurst Park

Conditional planning permission was granted for the use of the ground and part-first floors as a synagogue (Use Class F1(f)), along with the erection of a part single-storey side and rear wrap-around extension and a part two-storey rear extension. The decision was subject to the completion of a legal agreement. The application had been amended during its determination, including changes to the description of development, internal door opening, positioning of solar PV panels, and updates to Biodiversity Net Gain documents. Objectors Mark Nunn, Jemeen Sreedharan, and Thiri Sitharanjan spoke against the application, while Shulem Posen and Barney Walker spoke in support.

Sheraton House, 118 Curtain Road

Conditional planning permission was granted for the variation of condition 4 of a previous planning permission (ref: 2024/1396) at Sheraton House. The original permission allowed for the temporary use of the building as an arts, event, and exhibition space (Sui Generis) for up to three years. The variation sought to amend the hours of operation to allow for opening until 3:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, aligning with the premises licence. The decision was granted subject to conditions and the completion of a legal agreement. The application was referred to the committee due to a substantial level of objections received.
