The Employment Sub-Committee met and decided to recommend to Full Council that Cath Shaw be appointed as Chief Executive (Head of Paid Service) subject to no material and well-founded objection from a Member of the Executive. The Sub-Committee also confirmed the deletion of the post of Deputy Chief Executive.

Appointment of Chief Executive

The Sub-Committee considered a report on the appointment of a new Chief Executive (Head of Paid Service). The previous Chief Executive left in June 2024 and an Interim Chief Executive has been in place ever since.

The post was advertised on the council's website and in an industry publication, and a search was carried out by an executive search agency. Following this process, a number of suitably qualified candidates were shortlisted and interviewed.

RESOLVED that the Sub-Committee recommend to Full Council the appointment of Cath Shaw to the post of Chief Executive (Head of Paid Service) subject to no material and well-founded objection from a Member of the Executive and employment checks. ¹

The Sub-Committee agreed to delete the post of Deputy Chief Executive from the senior management structure subject to the acceptance of the post of Chief Executive by Cath Shaw.
