Funding Committee of the City Bridge Foundation Board - Monday, 9th June, 2025 11.00 am
June 9, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
The Funding Committee of the City Bridge Foundation Board is scheduled to meet on Monday, 9 June 2025, to discuss a range of funding and strategic issues. These include a review of delegated authority, strategic initiatives such as the King's Trust and Migration Exchange, and grant funding activity. The committee will also discuss future funding policy implementation and social investment opportunities.
Delegated Authority Policy Review
The committee is expected to review the City Bridge Foundation's (CBF) delegated authority policy and framework regarding funding application decisions. Currently, the CBF Board must approve the rejection of funding applications over £1,000,001. A change is proposed to allow the Funding Committee to make decisions on rejections for all applications over £500,001, with the intention of streamlining the process and providing more timely decisions. According to the report pack:
This is intended to streamline the process by which rejections are agreed, so that timelier decisions can be provided to the applying funded organisation, and is on the basis that consideration by the Funding Committee constitutes sufficient Member scrutiny of a recommendation from the Chief Funding Director or Managing Director of CBF that an application should be rejected.
Strategic Initiative: King's Trust
The committee will receive information on the outcomes of the 10-year strategic grant to the King's Trust (formerly Prince's Trust). The report pack states that the grant has directly benefitted 16,800 young people. The funding supported community-based outreach teams and programmes focused on education, personal development, and employability. The seven main programmes were: 'Achieve', 'Enterprise Challenge', 'Explore', 'Get Hired', 'Get into', 'Get Started', and 'Team'. The report will summarise outcomes over the years.
Strategic Initiative: Migration Exchange
The committee will consider a proposal to award Migration Exchange (Global Dialogue) £300,000 over three years. Migration Exchange is a funder network and pooled fund under Global Dialogue. The funding would contribute towards the 'End NRPF (No Recourse to Public Funds) Partnership' in collaboration with Praxis and Citizens UK. The report pack states that the grant will contribute towards:
...convening, facilitation and learning, participation for different working groups, communication costs as well as capacity building and leadership development for the organisations involved in this Partnership.
The partnership aims to address the systemic issues of NRPF, which affects an estimated 1.3 million people in the UK.
Grant Funding Activity
The committee will receive a report detailing funds approved and rejected under delegated authority since the last meeting in February 2025. The report will include a summary of grants committed, funds available for future commitments, heat maps of spending by London borough, and details of grant variations.
Standing with Londoners: Future Funding Policy Implementation
The committee will discuss the implementation of the 'Standing with Londoners' future funding policy1.
Repowering Finance Revolving Loan Facility
The committee will discuss the Repowering Finance Revolving Loan Facility, and consider a report from the Chief Funding Director.
Enterprise Development
The committee will discuss enterprise development, and consider a report from the Chief Funding Director.
