The Ashington & Blyth Community Partnership met on Wednesday 17 September 2025, to discuss the council's budget and corporate plan, a community governance review, and sports development in Newbiggin. The meeting also included a public question time, and a review of petitions. Councillors were asked to consider nominations for outside bodies.
Budget and Corporate Plan
The council's Head of Policy and Performance and the Head of Communications and Engagement were scheduled to attend the meeting to provide information on public consultation and engagement, in order to inform the council's Budget and Corporate Plan. There was to be an interactive session to gather feedback from attendees.
Community Governance Review
The Head of Members Services, Elections and Deputy Monitoring Officer and the Elections Consultant were scheduled to attend the meeting to provide information on the Community Governance Review.
Sports Development in Newbiggin
Kathie Keady was scheduled to give a presentation on sports development in Newbiggin.
Petitions
The agenda included items to:
- Receive any new petitions.
- Consider reports on petitions previously received.
- Receive any updates on petitions for which a report was previously considered.
Any updates on petitions for which a report was previously considered were scheduled to be verbally reported at the meeting.
Public Question Time
The meeting was scheduled to include a public question time, to answer questions submitted in writing in advance of the meeting. According to the agenda, questions can be asked about issues for which the council has a responsibility.
The agenda notes that the management of local public question times is at the discretion of the chair of the committee, and that a question may be rejected if it requires the disclosure of confidential or exempt information, or if it is defamatory, frivolous or offensive
.
