The Council of the London Borough of Barnet convened for an extraordinary meeting to confer the Honorary Freedom of the Borough upon five organisations in recognition of their exceptional service. The Council also held its ordinary meeting, during which various announcements were made, including congratulations to new parents and acknowledgements of deceased former councillors, and discussions took place on a range of important local issues.

The Council of the London Borough of Barnet convened for an extraordinary meeting to confer the honorary freedom of the borough upon five organisations in recognition of their exceptional service. In the subsequent ordinary meeting, councillors discussed a range of administrative matters, including proposed changes to committee meeting dates and memberships, and debated motions on domestic abuse in social housing and the defence of local democracy in planning decisions.

The Governance, Audit, Risk Management and Standards Committee (GARMS) of Barnet Council met on Thursday 11 June 2026. The meeting, chaired by Councillor Alex Prager, focused on the Council's financial sustainability and governance arrangements. Key decisions included the noting of the 2025/26 external audit planning reports and the MHCLG report on rebuilding audit assurance. The committee also reviewed the Corporate Anti-Fraud Team's annual report and strategy, and approved new organisational policies related to cash seizure and asset forfeiture.
