The Council of Waltham Forest Council agreed that Councillor Paul Perkins is appointed as Leader of the Council for a term of four years on 21 May 2026.

The Council of Waltham Forest Council received the Returning Officer's Report on Local Election Results on 21 May 2026. The report noted the persons elected as Councillors on 7 May 2026. The report included a breakdown of elected members by party and detailed results per ward.

Portfolio Lead Member - Adults and Health resolved that Councillor Marcelo Hart-Camus be elected to the office of Mayor of the London Borough of Waltham Forest until their successor is appointed. This decision was made on 21/05/2026.

The Council of Waltham Forest Council on 21 May 2026 appointed standing committees for the municipal year 2026-27. The Council determined the number and allocation of seats on all committees to party groups, appointed councillors to committees based on nominations, and appointed chairs and vice-chairs. The Council also agreed that all councillors would be appointed as supernumerary members to substitute when a named member is unable to attend a meeting, with specific substitution rules for the Health and Wellbeing Board, Coordinating Scrutiny Committee, and other Scrutiny Committees.
